Elijah DeVaughn was a 2020 Schaeffer Fellow from Harvard interning for the California Governor’s office. As a Rhodes Scholar, he pursued an MPhil in U.S. History at Oxford University. After his graduate degree, Elijah served as a speechwriter to President Joe Biden, becoming one of the youngest presidential speechwriters in American history.
Elijah is now a doctoral student in American Studies. His research interests include African American intellectual history, constitutional law, literary criticism, and rhetoric. He has previously volunteered as a Schaeffer Fellow alumni mentor.
